With Meeri Räisänen receiving the deserving honor of being called once again to join the Finnish National Team, Katie Burt has been added to the roster of Team Szabados for NWHL All-Star Weekend in Nashville on Feb. 9 and 10.

Congratulations to Meeri and to Katie!

Räisänen has been outstanding for all season for the Connecticut Whale. She was named VEDA Player of the Week on Nov. 19 after earning her first career NWHL win, stopping 27 of 28 shots in a 2-1 victory over the Riveters. She posted the Whale’s first regular-season shutout on Dec. 2 in a 4-0 blanking of the Riveters in Pittsburgh. She will join Team Finland for the finals of the Euro Hockey Tour from February 7-10 in Dmitrov, Russia.

Burt, who holds the record for most NCAA wins, has been dominant as the Boston Pride’s starter in her rookie campaign, posting a 7-4 record and .909 save percentage. Burt will have a busy February, as she was also named to the U.S. National Team roster for a three-game series with Canada from Feb. 12-17.

“I’m really honored t be part of NWHL All-Star Weekend,” said Burt. “To be included with many of the best players in the world is special, and I’m excited to head to Nashville!”

The NWHL All-Star Skills Challenge will be held on Feb. 9 at Ford Ice Center, with the All-Star Game being held the next day at Bridgestone Arena.
