Brandt, Cameranesi Help Lift U.S. To 4 Nations Championship Game With Win Over Sweden

Minnesota Whitecaps forward Hannah Brandt and Buffalo Beauts forward Dani Cameranesi stayed hot, each scoring in a 5-1 win for the U.S. National Team in the team’s final preliminary round game at the 4 Nations Cup in Saskatoon. The win gave the U.S. a 3-0 record in the tournament, securing a spot in Saturday’s championship game.

After Sydney Brodt and Melissa Samoskevich had staked a 2-0 lead for the U.S., Brandt added her second of the tournament with just 40 seconds left in the first period.

Brianna Decker pushed the advantage to 4-0 in the second period before Sweden pulled a goal back. Cameranesi then capped the scoring for the U.S. with a goal midway through the third period.

Cameranesi has two goals and two assists in the tournament, while Brandt has a pair of goals and an assist. Gigi Marvin (Boston Pride) and Kendall Coyne Schofield (Minnesota Whitecaps) each picked up an assist in Friday’s win. Coyne Schofield has three in the tournament.

The U.S. awaits the winner of tonight’s preliminary round matchup between Canada and Finland. Both teams entered tonight’s contest 1-1. The championship game will be played Saturday at 9 p.m. ET and will be streamed here. The third-place game will precede it at 4 p.m. ET and can be seen here. The games will be streamed via TSN, which requires a subscription.
