BROOKLYN, NY – Jillian Dempsey, the leading scorer among returning players for the Boston Pride, has re-signed with the club for 2017-2018. The Pride also re-signed forward Mary Parker, who joined the team late last season.
In 17 games last season, Dempsey had 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points – finishing fourth on the team in scoring behind Brianna Decker, Alex Carpenter and Meghan Duggan and tied with Hilary Knight. All four of those players are members of the 2017-18 U.S. National Team. In her first season with the Pride in 2015-16, Dempsey had 7 goals and 7 assists for 14 points in 18 games. Prior to the NWHL, the 5-4 forward played two seasons in the CWHL.
Dempsey had a distinguished collegiate playing career at Harvard. As a junior, Dempsey was a nominee for 2012 Patty Kazmaier Award as the best player in women’s hockey. She was a finalist for the ECAC Player of the Year Award and a unanimous first team All-Ivy League selection. She also helped the U.S. Women’s National Team to a goal medal at the 2011 Four Nations Cup in November 2011. In her senior year, she was a unanimous first-team All-ECAC choice, a first-team All-Ivy choice and a finalist for the Kazmaier.
Mary Parker played three games last season with the Pride after graduating from Boston University. Parker was 24-21-45 in 36 games last season at BU, where she is a graduate student. She was named Hockey East Second Team All-Star and led the league with 24 goals.
At Harvard in 2014-15, she led the Crimson in scoring (17-22-39 in 35 games) and to the NCAA championship game. Over four years at Harvard and one at BU, Parker was 67-69-136 in 140 games.
