Boston Pride Captain Brianna Decker is this week’s NWHL player of the week after she lead the charge in the Pride’s comeback win over the Connecticut Whale. Her goal and three assists helped keep the Pride undefeated going into the final weeks of the season.
Decker started the comeback when she tied the game at one, less than a minute after Nicole Kosta gave the Whale the lead. Decker was not done there, as she notched assists on Jordan Smelker’s power play goal, and Gigi Marvin’s game tying short-handed goal. Her final assist was a beautiful pass to find Emily Field who had an open net and scored what would hold up as the game winning goal to complete the pride 4 goal period and triumphant comeback.
The weekend catapulted Decker ahead in the scoring race. She has recorded 10 goals and 11 assist for 21 points in 14 games this season (2nd place in NWHL scoring behind rookie teammate Alex Carpenter). Last season, Decker finished second the scoring race to teammate Hilary Knight.
Decker and the Pride only have three regular season games remaining in their pursuit of perfection. They’ll play their final two home games this weekend against the New York Riveters (March 4th) and Buffalo Beauts (March 5th) before closing out their season on the road again against the Riveters on March 12th. Tickets to those games and every game are available at nwhl.zone/tickets.
