“A new era of the NWHL is less than 100 days away and we couldn’t be more excited,” said NWHL Commissioner Tyler Tumminia. “We look forward to building on the momentum generated during a historic Season 6 where our athletes showcased their skills before record-setting broadcast audiences and displayed their resiliency throughout challenging circumstances. But most importantly, Season 7 will be special because we get to share it with our passionate fans who will be back to cheer us on.”

The puck drops on Saturday, November 6, 2021, with all six teams in action to launch opening weekend. The first three games of the new campaign include a rematch of the Isobel Cup Championship Final between the Boston Pride and the visiting Minnesota Whitecaps, while the Buffalo Beauts host the Toronto Six, and the Metropolitan Riveters take on the visiting Connecticut Whale.

The Riveters will play their first two home games at Mennen Arena before returning to the RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House for the duration of Season 7. All other teams maintain their familiar venues including Boston’s Warrior Ice Arena, Buffalo’s Northtown Center, Connecticut’s Danbury Ice Arena, Minnesota’s TRIA Rink, and Toronto’s Canlan Ice Sports – York where they will make their highly anticipated debut.

A highlight of the Season 7 schedule is an outdoor event at Buffalo RiverWorks set for the Monday, February 21, 2022 holiday between the Beauts and Six competing in winter conditions which promise to be a memorable experience for all. It marks just the second time an NWHL regular-season game will be played in the elements following a December 28, 2019 event at the same location between the Beauts and Riveters in front of a capacity crowd. All other games on the 2021-22 schedule are the traditional family-friendly Saturday and Sunday contests that feature weekend series’ between teams. The league schedule also pauses for Thanksgiving plus a holiday break that covers Christmas and New Year.

2021-22 will be the second time in league history where 60 regular-season games will be played following the 2019-20 campaign where five teams each had an expanded 24 games. Last season NWHL teams combined for a total of 15 games in Lake Placid before a three-game playoff culminated with the raising of the Isobel Cup in Boston by the Pride. Despite the shortened season, NWHL athletes played meaningful games and earned full 2020-21 contracts and bonuses while the league established record broadcast and corporate partnerships, viewership, and digital engagement. This success contributed to a historic salary cap increase up to $300,000 per team for the upcoming season.

Details regarding Season 7 broadcasts in addition to the pre-season schedule, playoff dates, special event information, plus additional partnerships and promotions will be announced throughout the coming weeks. The NWHL will adhere to all local, state, provincial, and federal guidelines as they pertain to COVID-19 to ensure the safest environments for all stakeholders. The league will share more specific protocols prior to any return to play. The 2021-22 NWHL regular season schedule is subject to change.
