Beattie, Lorence Named 2020 NWHL All-Stars

by NWHL Media

Hanna Beattie of the Connecticut Whale and Meghan Lorence of the Minnesota Whitecaps have been named 2020 NWHL All-Stars. Beattie will play for Team Packer and Lorence will play for Team Dempsey for the NWHL's 2020 All-Star weekend in Boston at the Warrior Ice Arena. They are replacing their teammates Jordan Brickner and Sydney Baldwin, who are unavailable.

Beattie, a three-year NWHL veteran, is in the middle of a breakout season for the Whale. A versatile, defense-first skater capable of playing multiple positions, Beattie is fourth on the Whale in goals (3) and has six points in 20 games this season. She is also third in the league in takeaways (23) behind All-Star captains Madison Packer and Jillian Dempsey. Beattie is fifth all-time in games played by a member of the Connecticut Whale and was one of the league's representatives when the NWHL rang the opening bell at Nasdaq on Dec. 23, 2019.

Lorence is one of the league's top newcomers this season and was a three-time national champion during her collegiate career. Through her first 20 games of NWHL hockey, the Golden Gophers alumna has eight goals and seven assists. Lorence shares the league lead in shorthanded goals (2) with her Whitecaps and Team Dempsey teammate Allie Thunstrom. She also shares the Whitecaps team-lead in power-play goals (3) with Thunstrom, Jonna Curtis and Baldwin.
