The Details:

Who: The 3nd place Buffalo Beauts host the 4th place Connecticut Whale

Where: The Buffalo HarborCenter on Washington Street in downtown Buffalo, NY.

When: Sunday, February 26th, at 3:30 p.m

The Rundown:

Following a heartbreaking overtime loss in New York last weekend, the Whale look to advance from 4th place as they take on the 3rd place Buffalo Beauts. With only a few games left before the Isobel Cup Playoff Weekend, this weekend’s matchup will be critical for both teams to see who will face off against the top seeded Boston Pride in the first round. Buffalo is coming off of a hard fought battle with the Pride whom they will face just one final time going into the playoff weekend in March.

Featured Players:

Going into the homestretch, Buffalo’s two netminders are both making life difficult for their opponents with Brianne McLaughlin’s showing in the All-Star Weekend earlier this month and Amanda Leveille’s 40 save game last weekend. At the other end of the ice, Emily Janiga is finding her groove, adding another goal to her resume against Boston while Kourtney Kunichika continues to create dangerous scoring chances and leads the Beauts in assists (9).

Several Whale have been double-trouble for their opponents of late, accumulating points in pairs. After merely one game with Connecticut, new acquisition Zoe Hickel looks to be right at home with the Whale, posting two goals in her first 10 minutes wearing the blue and green; likewise teammate Kelli Stack tacked on a pair of goals against New York last weekend as well. Doubling up on the helpers in New York last weekend, were Haley Skarupa and Nicole Connery who are also players to watch in Sunday’s contest.

Sunday will be Buffalo’s Fan Appreciation Game; tickets are $15 and are available online and at the door.
