3 Stars of the Week

3. Kenzie Kent (F), Boston College

  • Kent contributed to Boston College’s 6-0 win against Laurentian on Friday with two goals. Kent opened the scoring less than a minute into the second period and closed out the scoring with a shorthanded goal in the third period. In addition, Kent recorded a +3 plus-minus rating with two shots on net. 

2. Savannah Harmon (F), Clarkson University

  • Harmon lead Clarkson to victory over Guelph in Clarkson’s exhibition game. Contributing to over half of Clarkson’s goals in their 5-3 win, Harmon had 3 assists, a +1 plus-minus rating, and 4 shots on net. Two of Harmon’s assists came in the second period while the third occurred on a power play in the third period.

1. Brittany Howard (F), Robert Morris University

  • Howard helped Robert Morris beat Ryerson in their exhibition game on Saturday with two goals. Scoring in the second and third periods to help seal the win for her team, Howard also had a +2 plus-minus rating and generated seven shots on net. The center also won over 50 percent of her faceoff draws, with 8 wins out of 15 face-offs.

Getting to Know Victoria Bach

            Victoria Bach is a forward for Boston University from Milton Ontario. At BU, she is working towards a degree in communication. Before playing at BU, Bach played for the Mississauga Jr. Chiefs of the Provincial Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). In addition, she won a gold medal at the 2014 IIHF World Women’s U18 Championship with Team Canada. Bach had a successful Freshman year at BU as she was named Hockey East Rookie of the Year and earned a spot on the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. She continued her success during her Sophomore year as she improved from 34 points to 48 points on the year and was named as a Hockey East Second Team All-Star.

            Last year, Bach scored 49 points as a Junior to lead the Hockey East in scoring. She was named a unanimous Hockey East First Team All-Star and a New England Division 1 All-Star. In addition, she participated at the 2017 Nations Cup with Canada, where she helped Canada win a silver medal by leading the team in scoring with five points. Bach was drafted with the seventh overall pick by the New York Riveters in the NWHL draft this summer.

Must See Matchup

This coming week’s must see matchup is between Clarkson and Northeastern. The two teams will play each other twice over the weekend. Clarkson will start the season as the number one ranked school in the country with Northeastern also in the top ten at number eight. These two games will feature NWHL draft picks McKenna Brand, Lauren Kelly, Denisa Krizova and Savannah Harmon. The games will be at 7:00 ET on Friday and 3:00 ET on Saturday.

Recognitions

Kenzie Kent, a forward at Boston College, was recently nominated for two Globie Awards. The Globies honor top athletes in New England. She was nominated for Best Female Athlete and was the only female nominated for Top College Athlete.
