ALL-STAR DEFENDER JORDAN BRICKNER RE-SIGNED BY THE CONNECTICUT WHALE

BROOKLYN, NY – Connecticut defender Jordan Brickner recently rescued a pair of Cairn Terriers – and just signed a contract to return for her third season with the Whale.

“The Whale moving back to Stamford is a great decision, and I hope we will see many of our fans from the inaugural season,” said Brickner, 26. “It is exciting to see all of the players signing or re-signing with the Whale. I went to high school with [new signee] Stephanie Mock, so I’m thrilled to play on the same team with her again.”

As for her new Cairn Terriers, Brickner named them Murphy and Penny and adds, “I love animals so much”!

Brickner grew up in Lake Forest, Illinois and developed as a defender while playing for the Highland Park Falcons. “Many of my childhood memories include being on the ice with my friends and family, and I wouldn't have had it any other way,” she said. She later attended the Hotchkiss School and played for the Mid-Fairfield CT Stars.

In college, Brickner played 65 games over two years at Colgate before transferring to the University of Wisconsin, where she played 75 games over two seasons from 2011-2013. Before joining the NWHL for its debut in 2015, the 5-8 defender played pro for one year in Austria and another in Switzerland.

Brickner, who has a goal and 15 assists in 32 regular season games in her career with the Whale, played in the 2017 NWHL All-Star Game.

“I've really enjoyed being able to continue my hockey career in the NWHL,” said Brickner. “I have met some great friends and have been able to re-connect with old friends and teammates. I am fortunate to be able to continue to play the game that I love so much.”
