Riveters Look for First Win of the Season in Boston

The Details:

Who: The Boston Pride will host the New York Riveters for their second matchup of the season.

Where: Warrior Ice Arena, Boston, MA

When: Saturday, October 22nd, at 6:30pm.

The Rundown: The Riveters and Pride enter Saturday night’s matchup with starkly different starts to the season. The Riveters fell in their first two games this year to the Pride (3-6) and Connecticut Whale (2-4), while the Pride have remained undefeated through three contests, most recently a shootout win (2-1) over the Buffalo Beauts last weekend.

Featured Players:

Riveters forward Miye D’Oench should be happy with her performance as of late, scoring a goal in each of her two games. D’Oench was traded before the start of the season to the Riveters from the Pride in exchange for forward Alex Carpenter. Prior to the NWHL, D’Oench played college hockey at Harvard University, where she was named to the All-Ivy league second team. She is one of 24 players in Harvard history to record 100 career points.

The Pride boast the most-recently named NWHL Player of the Week – Amanda Pelkey. Pelkey carried her team to victory after scoring the game-winning goal of the fifth round of the shootout against the Buffalo Beauts last Saturday. In her first season with the Pride last year, Pelkey recorded 10 points (7g, 3a) and added 4 points (1g, 3a) in the playoffs, helping her team to win the inaugural Isobel Cup Championship. She is a graduate of the University of Vermont, where she finished as the all-time leader in goals (49), assists (56) and points (105), as well as being named the team MVP and co-captain.
